VICINI welcomed 2014 with a written work consisting of 3 elements: a book, journal and DVD, which together comprise an organic whole from an educational perspective, “Interior-Exterior,” about the crops and agricultural products of the Dominican Republic.
The book, written by Carlos Despradel and photographed by Miriam Calzada, Eladio Fernandez and Pedro Genaro, starts by introducing Felipe Vicini, who explains that this is the 4th publication and the 2nd of the group, and forms part “of the commitment to the development of a better nation and a vision of long-term investment.”
The book “Interior: Crops of the Dominican Republic,” is 360 pages, largely illustrated with photographs and drawings, explaining the origin, nutritional characteristics and the requirements for cultivation, with other elements, of the banana (there are over 500 varieties); cacao (the chocolate is rich in vegetable oils which protect the central nervous system and increase physical and mental awareness); coffee (which began growing here in 1735); sugar cane (it is believed that its cultivation here began over 5 thousand years ago); tobacco (which originated in the Andes between Peru and Ecuador), plus cereals, oilseeds, legumes, fruits, musa, root and tuber crops, and vegetables.
The journal “Exterior,” according to Felipe Vicini, highlights 5 products resulting from the development and production process of the traditional export crops such as sugar, bananas, cocoa, coffee and tobacco.
